What We Do

Global H2O builds wells in Africa helping to ensure that more and more people have direct access to clean water. Our mission is to provide clean water and sanitation facilities in rural areas in order to, improve overall health of the communities and reduce child mortality rates, improve school attendance, empower women by putting them in their first community leadership roles and enable these communities to move on to the next stage of development.

Clean water is not a given for many people. In rural areas, residents of small villages often have to walk several hours to the nearest water source. Most of the time this source is also very dirty and not suitable for drinking.

Since its founding in 2009 by James Wilde, Global H2O has financed and built over 120 wells and 20 latrines , giving over 200,000 people access to clean drinking water and sanitation.

Girls and women in particular, who usually have to bring water from remote wells, are given a chance for education and personal development through easier access.

The Drilling Process

People often ask us how we go about our work. This film takes you on-site to Uganda to witness how Global H2O drills, tests and finishes wells that supply clean water to thousands of villagers. David Humphrey, one of our founding members, goes through the details.

The Need For Water

Why do villagers in Africa need water? Obviously for basic like drinking and cleaning. This video was recorded in several sites in northern Uganda, both with and without access to clean water, to find out how having access to clean water affects their everyday lives.
